Demystifying Job Numbers
What data sources do vocational experts use to identify job numbers? What methods might they use to estimate job numbers? When are these estimates valid? Practitioners often avoid challenging vocational expert testimony on job numbers because they do not understand the data and various possible estimation methods behind this testimony. Jeff Truthan, the president of SkillTRAN, will explain the three most common job number estimation methods used by vocational experts. You will learn the data sources and methodology used by vocational experts so that you can better challenge inappropriate testimony at the administrative hearing or in a post-hearing brief. Questions you might choose to ask at a hearing will be shared so that you get critical elements on the record.
